I received one of the sweetest, yet thought provoking emails I’ve ever been sent. My childhood friend, a lively red-headed ray of sunshine whom I met in CCD class at our local Catholic Church in second grade (seems ironic now), sent love and congrats. What I also noticed though, was that within those lines of gratitude for my friendship and phrases of praise for the life I have created, a slight tone of melancholy. It felt like her words had a hint of sadness about her own life.
It made me think…. What a wonderful thing to have someone take time out of their day to send love to me. When in reality, she may be needing someone to do the same for her. What goes around…
“I’m so proud of you for taking the time to figure out what will make you happy in your life and also allow yourself to contribute your talents to the world. It’s not an easy thing to do – I’m working on it right now! – but it sounds like you’ve figured it out.”
It’s amazing how at the exact moment that we think we have our shit together… Things seem to appear the complete opposite. I have been blessed to find this yogic path. So many stars have aligned to allow me to follow it. I HAVE to stick with it, which is a relieving feeling. It eliminates the “option” from things. That being said, there are also many opposing forces that make me question my every move. I guess that is just the universe trying to maintain it’s constant balance.
I recently reread Paul Coelho’s The Alchemist. That book is such a great story that has meant so many different things to me at different points in my life. What I most took from it this time, is that as long as we find our Personal Legend and do what ever it takes to follow it, then everything else will fall into place. Once we have made the conscious (and subconscious) decision to follow our dreams, the universe conspires to make it happen. There is such a thing called Beginners Luck. It exists so that we can all get a small taste of success when we embark on a new venture. That small taste will keep us yearning for more and will also allow us to maintain balance through the hardships.
Hope, love and faith that you already have all the resources you need to be successful and happy… Are truly the only tools that you need to really BE happy and successful! So, drop the judgments and expectations and do whatever the f*ck you want to do! Scream it to the mountains and manifest it to reality. I swear to you, it is really that simple and powerful.
Everything in reality is all truly just the perception of that reality. If it looks like I have my shit together… Well, then maybe ..somehow …I just might have it together. Even if I just have confidence in pretending like it is altogether, then everything else seems okay.
When I practiced yoga today, the theme was fear. The long and skinny of it: see your Fear and do it anyway! Don’t be afraid of fear. See it. Conquer it. “Veni, Vidi, Vici!” … Damn it!
We are all on this journey of life together and, as corny as it may be, things will all be okay because of it.
Do what makes you happy and finances, job title, relationships and everything else on the broad spectrum of how we define success, will all happen naturally.
“It’s incredible what yoga does for the body, mind and soul.” A routine can be comforting, but sometimes, do something different. Read a novel that’s completely random (from your perspective.) Forget your normal workout routine and hop on an ’80′s Nordic Track. Take a vacation. It’s amazing what a break from the norm and a little warm salt air can do for the heart, mind, and soul.
